At a Coke Can

Atikokan - At a Coke Can

Atikokan - At a Coke Can

A few years ago, when I was the President of the Atikokan Chamber of Commerce, we were brainstorming about how me might bring move visitors to Atikokan.

Perhaps I’m simple, but - as the rest of the crew got busy thinking of ways we could increase the benefit our community received from the near-by Quetico Park - I thought…

We should get a huge old grain bin from a farm in Manitoba, move it to Main street Atikokan, and paint it like a can of Coca-Cola…. At-a-Coke-Can.

I thought this idea was brilliant!  Tie in with the marketing buzz of a successful world-wide multi-billion dollar business… combined with Mom’s Way marketing and the insatiable desire of photo-opt’s during a family vacation…

All Atikokan needs is the World’s Largest Coke Can.

EVERYONE who is traveling through Northwestern Ontario will make a stop to have their family picture taken beside the Guinness Book Coke Can!

BUT NO.

When I told my idea to the Mayor of Atikokan - I was told “It doesn’t match our Promotional Theme.”

… and I’m thinking… this doesn’t match the theme of ‘Getting More Visitors to Atikokan?’

I don’t know.

I still think the Worlds Largest Coke Can will draw more visitors than the current marketing promotions that Atikokan pays for - and I’m starting an online promotion of the idea.

Are you in?
